Bags without a fashion shelf life.

  • Growing up in Totnes, South Devon, my friends and I had a distinctive rural town style born from a lack of high-street fashion. Our outfits were pieced together from charity shops and market stalls, with a few trusted staples like a good pair of boots and a wool jumper.

In my twenties, when I started dabbling in handbag design, I thought back to these cobbled-together wardrobes and sought to design handbags that matched the accidental ethos of seasonless, occasionless fashion we had created.

I wanted to make simple, timeless, and functional bags that fit seamlessly into everyday life. This aspiration became Lucie Cast leather goods, with each piece designed to reflect time-honoured simplicity and the enduring quality of leather.

  • Handmade from a single piece of vegetable-tanned leather, our products have no stitching or unnecessary details.

The features are as functional as they are aesthetically pleasing. Our signature solid brass clasp, inspired by the shape of a thumbprint, is designed to be tactile and a joy to use.

With consideration for how our bags feel to wear, what materials are used, and how they are made, these are pieces to be cherished and passed through hands for years to come.

  • Designed by Lucie in her Totnes studio, each piece is handcrafted by Matt and Rick at the nearby Tanner Bates workshop.

Our signature brass clasp is hand-cast in a local foundry, and the silk straps are woven by a specialist ribbon maker in Dartmouth.

Every piece reflects a commitment to local craftsmanship and traditional skills along the River Dart.
